What I Learned: In this assignment I learned how to search for scholarly articles from credited nutrition or other health-related journals to analyze the association of type 2 diabetes mellitus and caffeine consumption. I also learned to how to complete an Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Evidence Analysis worksheet to better examine and understand the association of the study question.
Reflection to Assignment: This assignment allowed me practice in reading and interpreting scholarly articles. This assignment also assisted in the development of my critical thinking and writing skills. A team approach was used to present in an oral and written format the conclusion of the findings.
Relevance to the profession: The ability to critically examine and interpret a scholarly nutrition article is crucial for nutrition professionals to make a sound evidence-based decision in patient care. In addition, the importance of agreeable collaboration among team members, co-workers, practice groups, etc. will allow for more thorough investigation of a questionable or controversial nutrition topic.
